Ask and you shall receive!  Do you get Amazing Computing?  I have submitted an 
article to them (which they have accepted for publication) on that very topic. 
 Should be out in March or April.  Oh...forgot to ask...is your drive a 40 
track or an 80 track (96 tpi) drive?  The article discusses interfacing 80 
track drives.
