When my roommate picked up the phone while I was on the modem, I got garbage on the screen--a sign that the modem didn't cut off the phone as it normally does. (Normally, while the modem has a carrier and is working, the phone that's connected to the "phone" jack gets disconnected to keep this from happening.) First, has anyone else had this problem, and what's usually wrong that causes this? Or am I just imagining things and something was wrong with the modem that worked itself out? Naah--now I have to watch out, or my roommates will pick up the phone and junk the display or screw up a file transfer. I'd appreciate any answers by E-mail.
