Well in ways this makes sense, but if you want to use C as a development
environment, best check the system with a C compiler.  if you want to 
develop in assembler, use assembly to benchmark the systems.  Writing
applications in C makes porting them to other systems easier.  With a decent
processor and a decent C compiler, the //gs would have a lot more support from
developers, in my opinion.
