Here are the pinouts on the 800 and XL/XE's monitor jack:

1 - Composite luminance
2 - Ground
3 - Audio output
4 - Composite video
5 - Composite chroma

Looking at the back of the 800, the pins are arranged like this (pretend the
V shape below is really a semicircle):

                       3       1
                        5     4   
                           2

My 800XL feeds the composite video input of my TV just fine using pin 3 for
audio and pin 4 for the video.
