From: CARL HOUSEMAN No guts here! Curiosity, though. Since you always reboot afterwards and hate TSRs, why not use the MDRIVE.SYS device driver? As for SHOWMEM displaying "?" for (I presume) a small area of memory after disabling RDISK, that sounds like RDISK isn't fully removing itself from memory. Do a SHOWMEM/V before and after disabling and you'll probably see that the "?" partition is the same size and in the same location as RDISK's environment. Now, what effect could this have on BYE & your hard disk? Anything's possible since you just reformatted, have you tried repeating the sequence of events youself?!! --- * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 (Opus 1:109/123) ------------------------------ Date: 02-14-90 (10:32) To: BOB ZIRIN Subject: RE: MS-DOS 3.X FOR RAINBO From: BILL MAYHEW Contact Suitable Solutions at 408-727-9090. --- QM v1.00 * Origin: Still Servicing the Rainbow - Maybee Forever (1:101/1.0) ------------------------------ Date: 02-15-90 (08:06) To: ANYONE Subject: GRAPH PROGRAM From: FRANK MALLORY I have GRAPH10 (version 1.0) of David Clark's graphing program for the Rainbow Does anyone have a later version? It puts up a graph OK, but then I can't seem to get out of it without rebooting. --- * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 (Opus 1:109/123) ------------------------------ Date: 02-14-90 (17:24) To: CARL HOUSEMAN Subject: NO GUTS -- JUST BRAINS From: AMER NELSON I've adopted a new policy. At the end of a session, before parking the HD heads, I ALWAYS run SHOWMEM and CHKDSK. It must take all of half a minute -- a lot less time than reformatting and reloading. One interesting sidelight -- I was selective in reloading and now have 8.5 MEGS free, not 2.5. Anyone else reading this, remember that those who do not learn from HISTORY or the mistakes of others are doomed to repeat old errors. Something like that -- quotations and TSR's are not my forte. ++ Amer ++ --- * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (Opus 1:343/3) ------------------------------ Date: 02-14-90 (17:31) To: BILL MAYHEW Subject: WELL STATED From: AMER NELSON Good reply. Guess you could say that the Mini-Exchange is an ABCDEFG switch box -- with the cable from the Rainbow using port #1. What was the original price for that contraption? I picked one up recently (just for fun) for $40. BTW -- XMODE and XDETACH are also mini-exchange related utilities. ++ Amer ++ --- * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (Opus 1:343/3) ------------------------------ Date: 02-14-90 (21:13) To: DAVID STRICKLER Subject: XATACH ETC. Just might solve some problems here interfacing RB's and other machines. Make sure it isn't sitting on anything. Preferably it should be sitting on a tabletop. Alternatively, you might have lost the controller board within the printer. I've had to have mine replaced.
