And the word from the Sales Rep and the System Engineers is that an HP-IB r/w optical will NOT happen. IEM and Bering make HP-IB r/w optical drives so you are NOT completely out in the dark. See any recent issue of HP professional for Addresses and Phone numbers. (Or you can wait for Hp-Ux 8.0 which is rumored to allow SCSI cards for HP-9000/800 series computers.
