However, my serial card doesn't use UARTs; it uses a VLSI chip. Questions: 1) What is the difference between a UART and a VLSI chip? (Qmodem tells me I have a 16450...) 2) Is there a pin-compatible replacement for the VLSI that has a FIFO buffer?
