I have an associate who has a huge program (mostly data statements)
written in GW-Basic.  He wants to 1) reduce its size so that he
can include more data statements and 2) make a compiled version to
increase speed.

Are there any compilers that would meet these requirements?  I've
heard reports that most of the current compilers would actually
cause a code size increase due to the runtime libraries needed.

This is for a program running on a XT clone with only a single
floppy drive, I believe.
