Thanks for all of the replies telling me that Mactools does in fact work
with 6.0.4.  I found the reason it crashed on me: it was one peculiar disk
that was doing it: the disk had 6.0.2 on it.  This caused it to crash.  Which
I guess makes a little sense though since the SE/30 does not run too well 
under 6.0.2.
