I purchased a Quantum 105 external hard drive from Third Wave Computing in Texas (800-284-0486) and I'm satisfied. Pros: price was MacWeek-competitive; knowledgeable sales rep on phone; nice package - neat case, quiet fan, external SCSI select; included latest System software and Disinfectant; no credit card surcharge; $11 shipping by 2-day FedEx; a billing mistake was corrected promptly; good length cable. Cons: no manual or warranty card included; internally terminated; ugly disk management software included; software strangely spread out (for example, disk manager was on the hard drive, not on the supplied floppy, though it only runs off a floppy); supplied Finder had command keys added, may have been hacked in other ways. Summary: it's okay to buy from Third Wave, if price matters and if you're familiar with setting up and maintaining Mac hard drives. Grobbins grobbins@eniac.seas.upenn.edu Usual disclaimer applies.
