On a SUN Sparcstation-1, running 4.0.3c, with the standard C compiler
provided with SUN OS, I get a "stack overflow: too many temporary
variables".  This was reported to SUN earlier this morning, but no advice
has been forthcoming.  Maybe the list can suggest a helpful hint?
