I recently tried to modify (via DEBUG) my COMMAND.COM (Version 2.3
for the Zenith Z-100) to make ECHO OFF the default operating mode,
based on 1988 postings (yes, I'm very slow) to comp.sys.ibm.pc by
svirsky@ttidca.tti.com and bobmon@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu, but I could
never pattern-match enough code unassembled from my COMMAND.COM with
their postings to determine that I had, indeed, found the proper
bytes to change.

If anyone has any information about making ECHO OFF the default mode
on Version 2.x of COMMAND.COM that runs on a not-quite-compatible
Z-100, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you.
