The way I am approaching this is to examine what AI techniques might be related to a generic task and then to look at what tool features might support each technique. But what AI techniques are there? Well, this is the point of this posting - can anyone help me in compiling a list of techniques? I am especially interested in implementation-independent techniques: E.G. Goal directed problem-solving and less so in more implementation-dependent ones: E.G. Backward chaining (a way of implementing goal-directed problem-solving - according to me!) So please tell me about your favourite techniques - if possible with some indication of how implementation-independent you think they are. Ruth Aylett ruth@aiai.uucp R.Aylett@ed.ac.uk
