A backpropagation simulator, bps, is available from gmuvax2.gmu.edu via anonymous ftp. After connecting, cd /nn and take what you find. This is a collection of executable code for MS-DOS, VAX/Ultrix, Sun 3, & Macintoshes. There's also a user tutorial and information about source code availability. The simulator is robust, incorporates a backprop speedup technique called gradient correlation, allows for user-definable transfer function range (0 .. M) or (-M/2 .. +M/2), considerable control over training and testing, etc. Eugene Norris CS Dept George Mason University Fairfax, VA 22032 (703)323-2713 enorris@gmuvax2.gmu.edu
