I've done it in the past but i guess I've lost some brain cells
along the way.
 
I use a VAX VMS system to FTP from SIMTEL20. I know the file type has
to be set to 8 bit. ( quote "TYPE L 8") However, the VAX chokes on 
files > 40K. The systems people tell me that the VAX sees the transfer
as a string unless I use the /IMAGE modifier in the get command. 
 
Well, when I follow the suggestion, I get larger files but when 
un'ARCing, the result is trash.

Take pity on a senile ??. Please help.
