Typically, they only use standard DOS calls and run in very limited memory spaces. At the very least, only minimal customizations may be required. I'd suggest trying F83, Pigmy, ZEN Forth, or F83X, but F-PC would most likely be too large. Does the Portfolio have ROM cards? It might be interesting to have Forth in ROM, but you will need to know quite a bit about Forth to be able to do it.
