Both Digitalk and ParcPlace's versions of Smalltalk are "real" in the sense that both support the same style of programming, have many functionally equivalent tools, and use the same source language. They are available on different platforms, with different pricing strategies, and different target audiences. To say that one is more real than the other is to ignore the intentional differences between the products. Kent
