Actually, it's quite the other way 'round - Usenet is available via the WELL, which is an "online community" operating out of the Whole Earth offices in Sausalito, Ca. I co-host the MIDI conference on the WELL, which in many ways is not so different from rec.music.synth but a little more personal because of a core of people who know each other participating over an extended time. Anyway, the WELL is accessible over Usenet only in the sense that dWELLers can be sent uucp mail. The WELL's modem number is (415)332-6106. Various forms of low-cost phone access are available - you can find out about it the first time you sign on, if that's your inclination. -- {pacbell,hplabs,ucbvax,lll-lcc}!well!warren
