Well I think that the answer "a system where the answer is wrong if it is late", is not correct. This definition includes weather forcasting systems which must produce an answer in less than 24 hours (otherwise it is a weather verification :-). The best definition I have seen (and I think it should be inlcuded in a regular "frequent answers" posting) is: "Real time systems are ones in which 'time' is an explicitly managed resource." - Author unknown. -gregw
