The optical mouse uses a red LED and sensor for one direction and an infrared LED and sensor for the other direction. The grid pattern on the mouse pad is not the same vertically as it is horizontally. If the mouse pad is not oriented properly (or is missing the pattern that the infrared sensor is looking for), the mouse pointer will stop working in one direction (but works fine in the other direction). -- Joe Smith (408)922-6220 | SMTP: jms@tardis.tymnet.com or jms@gemini.tymnet.com BT Tymnet Tech Services | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!tardis!jms PO Box 49019, MS-C41 | PDP-10 support: My car's license plate is "POPJ P," San Jose, CA 95161-9019 | humorous dislaimer: "My Amiga speaks for me."
