Make sure both the S300 and the S800 are using the same release. In your case this should be release 7.0. Otherwise, comparisons between these machines will be confused. There are a lot of differences between release 3.1 and release 7.0 on the S800, for example. 2. For language differences on the two machines check out the HP-UX Portability Guide for HP 9000 Series 300/800 Computers, HP Part number 98794-90046. It should be available from your local HP sales rep. NOTE: It frequently goes into gory detail - don't be intimidated by its size. The differences are generally in corner cases and in language extensions to support programs from other companies (lots of extensions for this purpose). C and FORTRAN are quite portable between the systems whereas Pascal is somewhat less so. Some information is also available for system calls, etc. Hope this helps.
