I haven't noticed a performance change in any position, although I agree that a side stand could cause problems. I don't know why NDD didn't like my hard disk, but I really couldn't trust it. EVERY sector marked bad? Perhaps it just didn't like my hard drive. However, I can't see what's different with a Seagate ST-251-1.
