Well, Hercules is about to release (April) a VGA compatible 24 bit frame buffer for $1024. This card also includes a TI 34010 graphics processor which is supposed to make it 5 to 6 times faster than other VGA cards. It supports these modes: Resolution # of Colors ---------- ----------- 320x200 4, 16, 256 640x350 2, 16 640x480 2, 16, 256, 32768 512x480 16.7 million 800x600 256 1024x768 256 -interlaced 1024x768 256 -non-interlaced Compare this to other 24 bit cards that don't even have any VGA modes, like the Truevision TARGA 24 at $3995, and this card seems like an unbelievably good deal at *** $1024 ***. Has anyone actually seen this card yet? ------------ Andrew Wason Bellcore aw@cellar.bae.bellcore.com bellcore!cellar!aw
