I want to set my hostname (for use in prompts, uucp/mail, and in case anyone should ask). If this was some other system, I'd probably put 'hostname mysysname' near the beginning of /etc/rc or /etc/rc.local. It seems to me that the NeXT would prefer that I use something like 'HOSTNAME=mysysname' in /etc/hostconfig, but the present (and essentially undocumented) 'HOSTNAME=-AUTOMATIC-' bothers me. I don't know what it does, and I don't want to just try the change. Can someone tell me the appropriate approach or approaches (if I should use something else for uucp/mail)? Thanks. -David {uunet, ucsd}!telesoft!dar, dar@sdcsvax.ucsd.edu
