Posted for a colleague doing some X development:

How can X be setup to have a visual of alt class "Direct Color" ie 24 bit color
on the Personal Iris under Irix 3.2 ??

Using the command xdpyinfo gives

number of visuals    2

	class	Static Color
	.
	.
Visual 2
	.
	.
	class	Pseudo Color
