Macintosh PICT is not a subset of TIFF, BUT there is a public domain Mac
program capable of turning PICT files into TIFF files (among other things.
LOTS of other things :)> ) that is called "Image".  This is NOT NCSA Image,
which is a different beast.  It is available from alw.nih.gov, is freely
copyable, and source code is available (I believe it's Pascal) from the same
place (anonymous FTP, natch).  I don't know how easy/hard it would be to move
the file reader/writer part to an Iris.
