It has been reported to SGI (Switzerland) without anything happening yet. *workaround*: Do a quick switch to the standard (console) 60 HZ video, define your color- map, and go back to NTSC. The colormap is apparently written only if you are in standard video mode. The switching proves to work with home-made software but is certainly not applicable if you don't have source on hand.
