I've read a huge amount of info in this and other related news
groups and can't find any descriptions of some of the packages
that are mentions frequently.  I'm sure there must be others
with the same questions I have.  Could someone please post short
descriptions of the following:

Seetex	
xtex
SGML
VORTeX
