Oh yes I forgot to mention that if you hope to format anything with
your shiny new latex you will need to get the style files that you
use: {article,art*,book,bk*,report,rep*,letter}.sty. And some assorted
ones like titlepage.sty, twocolumn.sty, etc.

And if you do bibliographies you'll need bibtex and the .bst files.

Hmm, is latex a disk manufacturer conspiracy? :-)
