I am no authority on this, but, as far as I know, AIX also runs on some flavors of PS/2 (the model 70, at least), 3090 mainframes (and some other System/370 platforms: 43xx, ?), and the just-announced RS/6000 workstations. > Does anyone have any experience in programming in X-Windows ? > At our department there seem to be all the manuals we need, > but sometimes too many manuals is worse than none... > So, could you advise me where to start ? Unfortunately, the IBM X-Windows manuals do not provide any sort of introductory tutorial. I found "Introduction to the X Window System" by Oliver Jones (Prentice-Hall, 1989) to be EXTREMELY helpful, although there are many errors in the example code fragments (refer to your reference manual for the precise syntax of the subroutine calls). Ollie Jones has taught most (if not all) of the introductory tutorials at the last several X conferences, so he is well versed in the subject.
