See the ISODE 6.0 package, available on nic.nyser.net and other sites.
One of the things being done is an Internet-wide OSI-based X.500 directory
service, to replace the old WHOIS service based at sri-nic.arpa.
I beleive the White Pages project already has over 100K users listed in it.
