In the "PROGRAM DIRECTORY for use with IBM blah blah for VM Release 1 Modification Level 2 of Program 5798-FAL" in "4.1.3 8232 LAN Channel Station", it does explicitly state "Ungermann-Bass 2273A, or 2274A adapter". Incidentally, do not be misled by the list of Ethernet adapters supported by the "TCP/IP for the PC" product - this is a different software product: for the 8232 you really do need the U-B 2273A/2274A (unless of course IBM release a new version of the 8232 support program). In the 'Licensed Program Specification' GC09-1205-01 it states that the 8232 requires an Ungermann-Bass #2272A or equivalent. I do NOT think that this is correct, although I have never seen a 2272A (which I believe is also known as a PC NIC). I hope this helps. I re-iterate that we are successfully using what U-B supplied as a 2274A. (It also said that on the box. There seems to be a fundamental principle of PC adapters that manufacturers never do anything so mamby-pamby as putting the type number on the adapter card itself). Alan
