Actually, the film is sent in Memphis.  Story one has a group of
Japanese teenagers on a pilgrimage to see Elvis and blues relics.
Story two has an Italian woman whose husband had just died on
their honeymoon.  She shares a hotel with a woman who just split
up with her boyfriend and is leaving town.  Story three has the
English boyfriend, depressed at losing work and his girlfriend,
carousing around with the ex-girlfriend's brother and a friend.
( jeepers, I made it sound like a soap opera ).

Each story is occurs in the same hotel, (run by Screaming Jay Hawkins
wearing a screaming red suite with a screaming red tie) and early
in the 2nd film you realise the stories are happening simultaneous.
This formal element adds suspense in the 3rd story.
