No. The HST does not support V.32 modulation, so the fastest it can connect with a T2500 is 2400bps. You would need to have a USR Dual Standard or V.32. With either of these, you would be able to use MNP5 with the T2500. - What is the MNP level used by the HST 14400 ? Is it Level 9 ? - Does the HST 9600 use Level 5 or 6 MNP ??? What makes the HST 14400 go - faster than the HST 9600, a higher MNP level or more Bps per channel? No manufacturer other than Microcom supports MNP9 (or anything above 7). When operating in its proprietary asymmetrical mode (9600 or 14400), the HST uses a modified, proprietary version of MNP that is not compatible with any other manufacturer. At 2400 or below, or at 9600 in the DS and V.32 modems, it does use standard MNP5. The HST 14400 uses a faster modulation scheme than the HST 9600 (6 bits per symbol instead of 4 bits per symbol). - How efficient are MNP Level 5 2400's when reading messages such as these??? Data compression modems can acheive nearly their maximum rated throughput when reading typical text messages. MNP5 and Hayes ADC can do about 2-to-1, and CCITT V.42bis about 4-to-1. -- Toby Nixon, Principal Engineer, Hayes Microcomputer Products Fax: +1-404-441-1213 Telex: 6502670805 Phone: +1-404-449-8791 Compuserve: 70271,404 MCI MAIL: TNIXON (267-0805) AT&T Mail: !tnixon Telemail: T.NIXON/HAYES Genie: TOBY.NIXON BBS: 1-800-US-HAYES FidoNet: 1:133/301 X.400: C=US / AD=ATTMAIL / PN=TOBY_L_NIXON / DD=TNIXON UUCP: ...!uunet!attmail!tnixon Internet: 70271.404@compuserve.com
