A while ago I joined many others in flaming Communications of the ACM for
being "watered down". I said amongst other things that the onlt things
that could possibly be usefull to all the members of such a large
organization was ACM news & the calendar.

Credit where credit is due: The December 1989 issue's cover story "The
Cruelty of Teaching Computer Science" which centers around a essay
of the same name by Edsger Dijkstra, is good value.

BTQ: My current signature contains a quote from Dijkstra's essay but
it was only an aside: it should not be regarded as a summary.
