I just wanted to add that while the above-mentioned document will give you the specs for how an AppleTalk packet is encapsulated within an Ethernet packet, the book "Inside AppleTalk" (Addison-Wesley, 1989) actually give the formats for the RTMP (Routing Table Maintenance Protocol) packets that Phil is actually interested in. "Inside AppleTalk" also includes the AppleTalk-to- Ethernet information, but not the details on programming the EtherTalk interface given in the "EtherTalk...Reference". Hope this helps!
