Thanks for all the helpful hints and tips regarding problems with unusual
behaviors of the system during appleshare activity resulting from WDEF
infections !  I have cleaned up all the disks and servers and have installed
gatekeeper aid and eradicate'em (do I need both - why/why not?).

The question I have now is, with the situation seemingly under control I am
still getting appleshare arrow activity when an application is launched or
when I open the scrapbook for example.  Is this normal ?  What is appleshare
doing ?  The cursor remains an arrow, and the delay isn't too bad, but does
anybody have a clue ?
