Well, we got the INIT and it didn't cure the problem on the portable in
question.  However, we were able to get the n3270/MacTCP version to work on it.
This came from a tip the user got from someone else. It emulates a VT52 when
used with our VAX.  NCSA also told us that Intercon's product TCP/Connect 
works on a portable. You have to pay for it, however.
