Could any of you folks out there tell me whether it will be safe for me to "rev
up" to R4 on top of existing R3 user data files?

Specifically, most of our users have pretty highly populated .MESSAGES
directories that I'm sure they'd want to access after our rev change.  Are
there any gotchas I need to be aware of before I start the upgrade?

If it's of further help, no one here is programming in Andrew; we're just using
stock applications that come on the contrib tape.
