I can't help you on the 2091 thing, but I can tell you that I have run Adaptec
4000, 4000A, and 400 on the 2090 and 2090A. They allow two disk drives per
controller, but not with the 2090, which doesn't know about any LUNs besides 0.
They have fixed tis particular problem in the 2091.
