I use DPaint III daily and have never had a font requester Guru.

     1.  Are you running background tasks?  There may be contention.
     2.  Are there fonts in your font directory?  Have you tried
         reASSIGNing to another directory to see if the Guru happens
         in the same manner?
     3.  When does it Guru, after typing a new directory?
     4.  Have you tried running Workbench 1.3 FIXFONTS utility to 
         see if the problem is in the *.font files (the headers)?

We need more information to help you with your problem.

Are you using 1.2 or 1.3?  You can't do alot about it in 1.2.  1.3 has many
more options for setting aspect ratios, multiply, dither, etc.  Check your
preferences settings and double-check if the correct printer driver is
selected.  With 1.3 you have a fair amount of control over these factors.
