Message-ID: <4398@daffy.cs.wisc.edu> Date: 6 Mar 90 00:17:13 GMT Sender: news@daffy.cs.wisc.edu Organization: Left intentionally blank. Lines: 23 Last week I posted a request for the executable for NetHack Patch level 7. Several kind souls responded, and I was able to get it from Xanth .cs.wisc.edu (Ip address = 128.82.8.1). I've got an experimental version of slip for my amiga, which is hooked up to a 3b1 here. So I was able to download it at 19.2KB via FTP. I've got 2.5Meg, with only one floppy 8-(. This entails some disk swapping, and ....... waiting. Unfortunately, I can't make the pro- gram memory resident because it appears to use self-modifying code :-( . Someone said they couldn't get the hack font to work. I assigned NetHack to RAM:, modified to nethack.cnf file so that it does everything from RAM:. To get the font to work you must make a subDir named hack in whichever device/DIR you've assigned to nethack. Copy '8' to the hack subdirectory, and the extended font should work. Thanks for all the responses - A working version of NetHack3 on my Amiga, like orgasmic! -Eric Bazan (Using Abe Megahed's account) P.S. My UnZoo[er] unpacked the file hack.font incorrectly, naming it hack.fon. It must be named hack.font in order for the extended character set to work.
