We map TPI to a standard-I/O interface. One of the problems we encounter is how to tell a standard getty (using a stdio streams-driver) that an online occurred. We don't want the getty to fall asleep in every 'open()'-function (when using an administrator on the same devices this causes problems). A solution would be to introduce an 'M_ONLINE' message, indicating a carrier of some sort (protocol dependent). How does the world feel about this? | | _ _ _ | | / ) / ) / ) -- __) (_/ (_/ / (__ helberg Tel: +3473 75154 Adr: nixdorf computer bv mijlweg 9 4124 pj vianen the netherlands uucp: ....mcvax!unido!nixpbe!helberg.via USA : ....uunet!linus!nixbur!helberg.via
