(Someone suggested here that I successfully replaced my 5.25" B: drive with a 3.5" drive in a 1985 vintage xt-compatible, with no controller change. I use MSDOS v3.21, and my CONFIG.SYS file includes the line: drivparm=/d:1 /f:2 /h:2 I couldn't do this to the A: drive, because the BIOS and controller can't handle the 3.5" drive on their own (so they can't ever load the o.s. and CONFIG.SYS). But it works with no problem for my B: drive. Umm... I'm talking about a 720K 3.5" drive. I believe this will _not_ work for a 1.44M 3.5" drive.
