Somewhere I recently saw a note (probably in a magazine) about a
wireless appletalk modem that worked over short range radio.  I
think the range was a maximum of about a mile under good conditions.

I would like to find out more about any of these or similar devices,
such as wireless ethernet extensions.  If anyone knows who makes these,
or can tell me more about them, I would appreciate it.
