I'm trying to build TeX on my system, but I'm in over my head
already.  I have the web2c distribution, version 2.33, and I've
tailored my Makefile and site.h files.  But I get:

	(cd cmf; make "CC=cc" "SITEDIR=.." "OPT=-O" inimf)
	cc -O -I.. -c mf8.c && mv -f mf8.o imf8.o
"mf8.c", line 1178: smallnumbe undefined
"mf8.c", line 1178: syntax error
"mf8.c", line 1189: smallnumbe undefined
"mf8.c", line 1189: syntax error
"mf8.c", line 1267: smallnumbe undefined
"mf8.c", line 1267: syntax error
"mf8.c", line 1408: redeclaration of dostatement
*** Error code 1

Stop.

Well, there are some "smallnumber" things in mf8.c, but nothing
on line 1178, or 1189, etc.  I don't see __LINE__ being redefined
anywhere.  What's going on?  Help!
