I have used the term `chick' to refer to many girls/women I have know over the years, nicluding but not limited to my own girlfriends at the time). It can very well be used as a term of endearment, and I'm sure it was not misinterporeted at the time. Of course, this may be because the girl I was speaking to at the time realized that I did not mean to infer any negative connotations. In general, I think that it's an alright term to use with {girl}friends, but is probably not interpreted as being very endearing when speaking to strangers or new acquaintences. PS - for anyone who cares, I do not have greased back hair, do not smoke, have never owned a pair of cowboy boots and will never drive an old model-T roadster (red, of course) to the local burger joint to pick up `chicks'! -- * A.
