For the record, I don't look for status in a woman either. >At least to me, >I am looking for someone who has a lifestyle similar to mine. Hooray again! I think that this is one of the most important factors of all. Lifestyles that are too radically different, or simply incompatible, can lead to all sorts of problems later on in a relationship - once the initial infatuation has worn off. Believe me, I speak from personal experience. Generally, interests stem from lifestyle, so finding someone with similar interests is certainly a first step in the right direction. >I do agree >though that I, as much as the next girl, appreciate a good looking guy. >In several instances I found that these men tend to have problems with >their ego and that turns off any girl. Yow, ain't it the truth. Don't you just hate so many of those 'pretty boys' who's egos are so huge for no apparent reason other than superficial good looks? >I recently had a conversation with a man, who beleived >that there were only three types of women: ugly, pretty and nice, and >boy-toys. Is he, by any chance, one of the aforementioned 'pretty boys'? They usually have extremely limited views on women. (I am trying to resist using the term 'sexist pig' ... oops! ) >I understand that this may be true, but I hope that men and women aren't >necessarily ruled by what society proscribes. Not in my mind, but unfortunately we have a society that is to a large extent controlled by the media. TV shows probably do more to perpetuate the myths about the sexes than any other single factor. In general, people are stupid (not the people on the net - this is not a representative sample) and will believe almost anything they see on TV. Thus we have a society formed around what the TV tells us our society should be. nbd that's mostly American TV, where the viewer is considered to be almost brain-dead. (in support of this - it was suggested that the name of 'Les Miserables' be changed for American audiences because it was too long and hard to understand).
