COrrosion is caused by one of several conditions; the most common being 
dissimilar metals in electrical contact both structurally and through water
or some other external path.  WHen you put anechroic insulation on the
outside, it also breaks the external path and prevents any of this type
of corrosion.

This is not sure fire, but tends to happen.
