           100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF DR. NORMAN BETHUNE

	DR. NORMAN BETHUNE was born in Gravenhurst, Ontario, on March 3rd, 
1890.  He was a famous chest surgeon in North America.  He led a volunteer
medical group to China during the Anti-Japanese War and devoted his life
for Chinese people.

	This coming Saturday is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr.
Norman Bethune.  A set of stamps will be issued by China and Canada.  This
is also the first time that China joint issue stamps with another country.
